Dear Sir,
PROVISION OF POTABLE WATER IN IWO LOCAL GOVERNMENT (OSUN STATE, NIGERIA)

INTRODUCTION

The above named Organization is a registered Organization under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria. It is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). The name of the principal contact is Mr. Adisa Kabiru Adeniyi.. In the aforementioned Organization, a lot of youths and elites are actively involved. The qualification of members ranges from Bachelor of Science Degree (B. Sc), Higher Diploma (HND) and Ordinary Diploma (OND) Degree holders to the layman.

The Organization has performed a lot of developmental activities before and on its accreditation by the Corporate Affairs Commission. The Organization has made its own marks in area of assisting the less privileged in the society, community development and Information and Computer Training (ICT) Technology for the empowerment of youths and women.

Also, a lot of projects are on course. The development of a computer centre for youths and women liberation, library renovation and stocking and assistance of the less privileged by providing training for self-employment have been on course.

Finally, the organization deem it fit to assist in area of community development by providing bore-hole water supply to address the issue of scarcity faced during dry season where community members search for water over many kilometers. This has been a persistent problem which needs immediate and solicited support of big organizations. People not only search but after finding there is usually over population which leads to assault from parties involved.

WHAT WE INTEND TO DO.
As part of our area of specialization; Community development of Iwo Township and Nigeria as a whole is of paramount important to us. Our Organization noted the problem encountered by the people in getting access to reliable water supply both during rain and dry seasons. Statistics showed that a lot of lives are lost due to water borne diseases like Cholera, typhoid and ringworm diseases.

Government efforts have shown slight decrease yearly. The government has only succeeded in giving the inhabitants water at most three times in a month. This however, has not been sufficient as people who are poor cannot afford the tariff of the water board and more so, people houses (some) are not equipped with the public water supply system.

The population of Iwo is 465,116 people presently are seriously in bondage of water supply. Only government cannot solve the problem, there is need for Non-governmental Organization to stand-out for the call to serve the nation. The reason for this write-up therefore, is to address this problem of shortage of water in Iwo Community.

People need not rely entirely on the government for assistance. The organization do not think of what the government can do, rather we can do to improve our lifestyles. This is the reason for requesting for funds in corporate and international bodies for necessary and immediate assistance.

For well over twenty-five years potable water has become a luxury in Iwoland. The obvious implications of this are clear: endless search, on daily basis for water, exposure to water-borne diseases with all its destructive effect on the health of our people, near paralysis of social and economic life and other inconveniencies associated with lack of water.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT
The advice from Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Development will be very essential. We wish to work with the Water Resources Development Units of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Soil & Water option (Agricultural Engineering Department) University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Again, quotation from at least three contractors and comparison has been done. The selection of the best was based on; experience of the contractor, specification of material with guaranty and the overhead cost. Strategic location will be selected for four bore-holes and the total cost for each option is as shown in the summary.

Moreover, surveying of the site will be done in order to know the depth of water and should incase there will be any underlying rock which will hinder the construction of the project. The tap (each bore hole) should be able to supply four thousand to five thousand people successfully. This will immediately be followed by commissioning.

Having considered the various problems inherent in manual and electric (Submersible) pump, the electric pump has been selected for the project. The maintenance will be our responsibility and the community at large.

Finally, we have been supported by the King with his Chiefs, Chairman of Local Government and eminent personalities at home and abroad. If the project is successfully carried out, it will address issue of outbreak of disease common in Iwoland. The difficulty that has been common in fetching water by students before going to school will be addressed permanently. The harassment that often leads to fight can also be adequately addressed.

SUMMARY
In spite of the numerous aims and objectives of the organization funding has been a problem. In lieu of this, we need help from your Organization. The problem of water supply in Iwo town needs urgent solution. We hereby solicited for your help in this area as your effort will bring lasting solution to the menace in our area. The money will help to reduce loss of lives (premature death), sufferings and other water related diseases will be under control. Costs are highlighted below:
• Submersible Pump
• Plumbing Work
• Labor
• Storex Tanks
• Digging
• Construction Works

VARIOUS OPTIONS

1. Domestic bore hole - (4x N 1.4 million) - N 5,600,000
2. Commercial bore hole - (4x N 1.75 million) - N 7,000,000
3. Industrial bore hole - (4x N 2.4 million) - N 9,600,000

Option 2 (Commercial Bore hole) has been chosen because of the advantage over others which suits our purpose. Domestic has low capacity to supply the teeming population while industrial is profit oriented.

The total amount requested from your Organization is $56,000 (N 7,000,000)
